Frequently asked questions
My parent isn't tech-savvy. Will this work for them?
Yes — that's the whole point. There's no app, no login, and no device to charge. Your parent just replies to a normal text message, the same way they'd text a grandchild. A basic flip phone works fine.
What happens if my parent doesn't reply?
We escalate gently: a reminder text after about 30 minutes, an automated phone call after about an hour (pressing 1 confirms they're OK), and if there's still no answer, we alert their emergency contacts and you. You can tune all of these timings.
Is this a medical alert system?
No. Senior Safety Checks is not a medical alert or emergency-response service, and we never dispatch emergency services. It's a daily wellness check that tells your family when something seems off — for emergencies, always call 911.
How much does it cost?
$9.99 per month after a 14-day free trial. The trial doesn't require a credit card, and you can cancel anytime with one click.
Won't my parent feel watched?
Most seniors experience it the opposite way: one warm text a day from a family that cares, answered on their own schedule. Your parent opts in by replying YES before any check-ins start, and they can opt out at any time by texting STOP.
Can my siblings get alerts too?
Yes — add up to three emergency contacts, each with text and/or email alerts. Shared family dashboards are on our roadmap.
How does the free trial work?
